John H. Rex, MD
Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Rex is a physician, drug developer, and global antimicrobial resistance (AMR) policy advocate with more than 40 years of experience spanning clinical care, antimicrobial drug development and policy. He currently serves as Chief Medical Officer of 51黑料网, operating partner with Advent Life Sciences, and Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board of the $1 billion AMR Action Fund supporting late-stage antimicrobial development. He was also a voting member of the U.S. Presidential Advisory Council on Combating Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria (PACCARB, 2015-2019) and publishes an AMR-focused scientific newsletter reaching more than 3,000 readers globally. Throughout his career, Dr. Rex has worked to advance the development of new antimicrobial agents, including through novel regulatory and reimbursement models, co-founding CARB-X and Europe’s New Drugs for Bad Bugs (ND4BB) program, and serving as Industry Representative on the FDA Anti-Infective Drugs Advisory Committee (AIDAC, 2007-2011). His experience includes academic patient care and teaching at McGovern Medical School-Houston, research and development roles at the NIH and McGovern Medical School, and VP-level leadership at AstraZeneca, where he helped advance compounds from preclinical development through all phases of clinical development.
